Links at the end of the page source

Last update: 06.10.2026

I see a “Footer links” warning. What does it mean?

This means that the links on your website are placed at the end of the page source, in the footer.

Clients may avoid this type of placement: some won’t buy links on sites like this, while others may blacklist the domain. As a result, your website may receive fewer orders and earn less.

Move the links higher in the page source. Ideally, they should also appear above the fold.

My links are placed in the middle of the content or in the sidebar. Why do I still see the “Footer links” warning?

Where the links appear on the page does not matter because the page source is analyzed. Most link building platforms and services check where links are placed in the page source rather than where they appear on the page.

The message says I can request another link placement check. Where is the button?

The button is located at the bottom of the message.

If less than 24 hours have passed since the previous check, you will see the date when the next check is available instead of the button. After you request a check, the “Check requested” status will appear.

You can request another check once every 24 hours. If you need an additional check, you can also contact us through the feedback form.

Why was this feature introduced?

We reviewed rejected orders and found that around 20% were rejected because of where the links were placed in the page source.

We decided to notify website owners about this issue so they could fix it and increase the number of links purchased on their sites. Sites that updated their link placement saw a noticeable increase in earnings within a week.

Proper link placement can also improve your chances of being added to clients’ Favorites, while links placed at the end of the page source may increase the risk of your site being blacklisted. Please note that the final decision is always up to the client.

Will my site rank lower than others, and will my earnings decrease?

Serpzilla does not lower your site’s ranking or apply any automatic penalties.

However, clients may avoid sites with links placed at the end of the page source or blacklist them. As a result, your site may receive fewer orders and earn less even if its ranking in Serpzilla stays the same.

Moving the links higher in the page source removes this potential reason for rejection.

What if my website layout doesn’t allow me to move the links higher up?

Using CSS, you can display links almost anywhere on the page while technically placing them higher in the page source.

However, there is little point in trying to mislead the crawler, as some clients still check link placement manually. This means such changes are unlikely to have a noticeable effect.
